Activities and Events

While the schedule of events may seem somewhat imprecise, most of our projects are in remote locations and require flexibility in planning to accommodate transportation, supplies, the weather and more. As details solidify, this page will be updated. We highly recommend that those interested in participating in any of these activities email hartpathart@gmail.com as early as possible both for planning and to get the most timely updates.

West Fork Cabin Cleanup
9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27

We can meet at Three Mile at 8:30 a.m. if anyone is interested in carpooling. Otherwise, we meet at the trailhead at about 9:30 a.m. It is about an hour's drive from Bonners Ferry, and right under a mile and a half walk to the cabin. We will be packing out trash, washing walls, fixing broken things, cleaning the fire pit, etc.

The cabin is located at the edge of a meadow in a natural research area up the West Fork of Smith Creek Road. The trail winds through remnants of an old growth forest to the cabin. It is grizzly bear country.

To reach the trailhead, you take US 95, north from Bonners Ferry. At the junction of US 95 and US 1, follow 1 to Copeland Road and turn left. It's a couple of miles to the West Side Road. Go north on the West Side Road to Smith Creek Road (sweeping left turn). Follow Smith creek for a little over 10 miles to road 2446. Turn right on 2446 for about a mile and you will be at the trailhead. The trailhead is awkward and small. Parking spaces are perpendicular to the roadway and were not meant for large vehicles. Any other parking will be alongside the road.
We are bringing cleaning supplies and garbage bags. Any help in carrying them to the cabin would be appreciated. Do not worry about a forced march. It's a nice walk. Please bring water and lunch ... and mosquito repellent! You will need sturdy shoes or boots. I only recommend long pants because of the mosquitos. Always bring a rain jacket just in case.

Everyone is welcome. If you have any other questions please call or text Pat Hart at (208) 597-5789.

Bingo Night
5 p.m. Saturday, August 8
We have BINGO at the Eagles in downtown Bonners Ferry. There will be monetary prizes and generally the cash is supplemented with huckleberries or other prizes. Rumor has it that another quilt will be raffled off. It starts at 5 pm and goes until the prizes are all gone.
August 15: Our one and only open house this year at Snyder. It will run from 10 a.m. until 3pm. The museum has expanded, the grounds are lovely and we would really like to have the community join us.
