Spring update

Hi everyone. I just wanted you to have a quick up-date as to what the Friends group is doing.

We had a very successful clean-up day at Snyder Guard Station. Twelve volunteers donated more than 100 hours to washing windows, cleaning floors, scrubbing outhouses, stabilizing display structures, hanging curtains, making beds etc. The Snyder host was arriving just before the rental program started and we wanted to help ensure that the place looked really good. We were lucky with the weather and Snyder is gorgeous.

Perhaps the best news is that Mike Weland has been working on the website. I know the transition has been long in coming. There are many upgrades and quite a few changes.

Several biographical memoirs concerning local "celebrities" have been added in addition to new stories. (Bob Graham, Don Lindsey, Bob Pluid, West Fork Cabin ) Mike has added an archival section so that you can find what you may have missed. There are dates of up-coming events as well as historical dates of occurrences in Boundary County. It's very fun and hopefully it will encourage you to add something.

The dates on the website are correct. Our next service project will be Saturday, June 27, with the West Fork cabin clean-up. We can always use help with the actual work, but honestly, if you have not had the opportunity to visit West Fork cabin, join us. It's a beautiful walk and a beautiful setting. We will meet at the trailhead at 9:30 a.m. It will take about an hour from Bonners Ferry to reach the trailhead. It's a little over a mile walk. It would be smart to carpool because the trailhead is small. You can text me or call at (208) 597-5789.

We will have Bingo at the Eagles on Saturday, August 8. We will start at 5 p.m. I promise this year we will bring some fans to cool things off!! Mark it on your calendar, we're already searching for fun prizes! (And of course there will be money.)

Our one and only Snyder Open House this year will be on Saturday, August 15. We are looking for ways to make it special, and we will announce them when it comes closer to time. Please put it on your calendars.

As we move through the summer, we expect more projects. I will send an alert or you can find them on the website.
